USA Camp Updates;

Kindly provided by KittyPie and Ingrid of the WWGym forum.

The format of the camp is as follows
-Yesterday and Today were training days.
-Tomorrow is an All Around competition
-Saturday, Marta will choose two events that she wants the gymnasts to perform on.
-The USA team will be announced between 7PM and 8PM central time on Saturday.
-The Team will fly to be on the Today Show on Sunday Morning for the "official" announcement.
  • Make sure you watch for updates on the NBCOlympics webpage. They will be posting videos of the competitions Friday and Saturday.

And here are the gymnast updates;

-Samantha Peszek looked jittery at the beginning of practice, so bad it looked like she was coming down from a peak. She started getting into her own groove come the end of practice.

-Jana Bieger looks like normal, nothing standing out about her.

-Ivana Hong might have a knee injury. It's been reported that after dismounting from beam, she fell to the ground grabbing her knee.

-Shayla Worley is looking good again, she might indeed be the sixth member on the Olympic Team.

I'll post more whenever I find out more important information.

The Wonderment that is Hong Su Jong.

Everyone knows the all around 'frontrunners' in Beijing: Johnson, Ferrari, Nistor, Yuyuan, Barbosa, ect. Well, make sure you don't leave out Hong Su Jong in the all around. She could medal in the all around in Beijing with just a few upgrades on a couple of her events.

She already made 2 finals last year, winning silver in Vault and being able to get into the heavely packed bars finals. Her floor is nice, with a full-in tucked, 2.5 punch front tuck, triple twist, and a double pike to finish. If she gets a barani or a layout after the 2.5 and upgrade all her dance skills from b's into C's, she would find herself with a routine 6.0+. And with her form, she could possibly find herself in EF.

And her beam, just like her floor, she would need just a few upgrades and work on her consistantcy and she'll be golden. She might be the dark horse in the all around hunt for a medal.

Sloan Fever!

Lately, there has been a craze going on about Bridget Sloan.
She was named alternate to the 2007 Worlds Team, but nobody really noticed her until the Good Luck Beijing Event. I totally blanked on her when making the "USA Pickle" post, so she deserves a post.

She can really do good in Beijing, especially being the 3rd floor worker;

She has nice bars, but needs to upgrade her combinations for her to be in Team Finals for bars. If she works on that, she could possibly be the missing puzzle piece USA has been looking for.

Lets Start Out With...

Chellsie Memmel
Yes, Chellsie Memmel.
The great American gymnast who won the 2005 World Championships All Around.
Is back.
With a phloof.
Most of everyone has already seen this
But if you haven't, I warn you its not for the faint-hearted.
Her new floor routine;

Its pretty much horrible. I apologize in advance if your ears were bleeding.
Anyway, its Marta to the rescue! She is making Chellsie get a new routine, because "it didn't get the reaction we wanted." I'm guessing she was expecting something good?

And seriously, Antiona Markov (i think thats her name, I'm too lazy to look), what happened?
Remember when you choreographed Allyse Ishino and Courtney Kupets' routines?
Remember how totally rad they were
Think back to those days
And actually choreograph something good for Chellsie. She is a phenomenal gymnast, and she deserves more than "I Love Rock & Roll" and arm-waving.
